My dingaling

This meme is based on a remix of the song “my ding-a-ling” by chuck berry. It which was created by dj suede.

Origin

This meme originates from an episode of the popular cartoon “the Simpsons” called “lisa’s pony”, within the episode there is a scene where a boy (who appears to be part of a talent show) does a cover of the song “my ding-a-ling” by chuck berry. This scene is the premise of the remix by dj suede whereby he uses the audio from the episode to create his remix. The original remix was uploaded onto YouTube on the 7th January 2016 by the user “positive sound services”.

Uses

The main use of this meme by people is to create a video of them performing a dance routine which accompanies the remixed song and then upload the video to social media.

Review

I feel that the song which was created by dj suede is very creative as it perfectly demonstrates the Internet’s ability to take any segment of media (no matter how small) and transform it into something entertaining.

However the same cannot be said for the meme as even though the song is very creative, it is only a small part of the overall meme, the main part being the dance videos which accompany the song which I feel is quite boring actually, they are neither funny nor are they entertaining.

It is just another generic dance meme which unlike the “nae nae”, “dab” or any other dance meme whereby a new dance move is created, this meme contains nothing new or interesting as all of the remix videos which I have seen, seem to incorporate other popular dance moves but have no original dance moves which are specifically related to this meme. Thankfully this meme seems to be short lived and hopefully it will die soon before becoming viral.

I rate this meme 2/10.
